Can I propagate a Florida Ricordea in my tank?

Hi all...I am new to reefing as well as to manhattan reefs. I have 12 gallon Aquapod that is doing very well. My question is specific to propagating a Florida Ric. I have read a lot of info on the web but wanted to ask all of you your opinion. Can I just make one clean slice from the mouth out while it is still in the tank? Any better suggestions? I want to help my ric along in multiplying in my tank.

be patient, they will form 2 mouths and divide themselves...I started with a few diff. colors, now I have about 60

never really took note of time, I believe the ones on my sand bed are spitting more often than the ones higher up

Thanks. I will try putting it on the sand. Can it go directly on the sand or does it need to be attached to rock/rubble first?

if not attached yet, put them on rubble (on the sand) and they will attach
