Mounting Acro

Which have you had more success with: mounting sideways on a plug or rock or standing a frag upright and hoping the base will encrust?

Depends on the acro. Make sure it is a form that has a good encrusting rate before trying to mount it sideways. Otherwise put the cut directly in the glue and mount upright. If you have only one main stalk, I recommend mounting at an angle, if you mount it completely upright it actually doesn't get very much direct light on the body and will not grow as well.

I usually mount upright and then put the actual plug at an angle when I glue it into the rockwork.

IME mounting all your acros on an angle allow them to branch out faster.
