Getting Coral Off Live Rock?

I'm planning to break down my tank to transfer to another tank. However, there are corals like zoas, GSP, xenia, kenya tree, and others stuck onto the rock. How do i get these off? Can I take a blade and try to cut off their foot?

Either move the whole rock or dremel off the section with the coral. Waaaaaaaay easier than removing all the stuff from the rock, IMHO.

Definitely use a dremel... With softies if you leave the tiniest piece they will grow back.

If I move the rock, the entire structure will fall thats the problem.

Softies are the hardest to remove I'll agree. I don't know how to get xenia off..

you can use a chisel to chip off small pieces of rock under the colonies.

Those Xenias WILL grow back if you don't excavate. Holes in rocks are great imo. More room for goodies!
