One of our favorite corals for the home aquarium has to be
the Scoly! These are one of the most sought after Large Polyp Stony
Corals in the aquarium hobby. Their color variety never cease to amaze! Just
when you think you've seen them all, another one comes along like you've never
seen before! They look incredible in groupings too, one of the hottest coral
gardens you can put together!

We'd consider this an easier to care for coral, and they're very mild
tempered as well, non aggressive. Feed this coral a couple of times a week
with meaty foods like mysis and brine, and they'll be plump and happy as a clam!
It's best to feed them before your lights come on (same with all corals). We'd recommend
broadcast feeding the whole tank first, so the fish can eat and to start triggering the eating
response of the scolys. The fish will be much less likely to come out and try and steal food away if they have been
fed beforehand and the lights are off. Putting a pvc pipe around them to keep other critters
away while they feed is another great trick!
You can also put a small container or basket over the coral to keep the fish away too!
This doesn't have to be done, but monitor your fish/critters to see if it's necessary.

It's definitely fun to see them turn almost inside out to feed! We recommend placing
this coral in the lower parts of your rock work or nestled in the sand. They require lower to
moderate lighting and lower to medium flow. The great thing about them is
that you can put them as close as you like together to create an amazing scoly
garden full of color. If you have a scoly garden, feel free to share some pics here!
We'd love to see them!
