Hey Reefers! Let's talk dipping your Zoanthids!

Zoanthids are some of the most well-known corals in our hobby, and many of our prized possessions! There is nothing like a big, bright colony as the centerpiece of your tank, or the satisfaction of watching a stunning Aquacultured frag grow out!

These classic corals are susceptible to a variety of pests and hitchhikers. We wish we knew what it was about them that makes them so delectable to pests, but the good news is they can be eradicated and prevented! Sundial Snails, Sea Spiders, and Zoanthid eating Nudibranchs are a few of the main culprits!

However, as daunting as these pests might seem to battle, there are a wide variety of products on the market to treat them successfully! Let's dive into how we keep our Zoas healthy and pest free!

We dip all of our Zoanthids on a weekly basis. Every Friday afternoon, our Zoas are dipped in Coral RX, and thoroughly checked for any unwanted pests that may have become dislodged in the dip. Friday afternoons allow ample time for them to recover over the weekend, before any are shipped out the following week! Maintaining a weekly schedule allows for pests to be removed before they are able to reproduce or lay eggs. Preventing the problem before they start! With new Zoas arriving regularly, its important for us to stay on top of our schedule. To prevent any outbreaks from newly arrived pieces, they are immediately dipped, quarantined and carefully monitored before adding them into our collection of Zoas!

Luckily, despite all of the things trying to eat them, Zoanthids are actually very hardy, resilient and easy to care for! Making them the perfect choice for hobbyists of all levels! With a strict dipping regiment, dipping and monitoring on arrival, your Zoas will thrive!
