Hey Reefers! Let's talk ORA Maricultured Clams!

We get all of our clams straight from ORA (Oceans, Reefs, & Aquariums)! They have a Mariculture facility in the Marshall Islands, where they grow and farm several species of Giant Clams! Check them out HERE! We are proud to currently carry several of their beautiful farmed species of clams including Maxima, Derasa, and Crocea!

The best part about our ORA clams is their coloration and variety! They come in stunning shades of greens, blues, pinks, golds and blacks, with amazing highlights of orange, gold, and blue! It seems like no two clams ever look alike. Each one has their own unique pattern and design that is just mesmerizing! Unlike their coral counterparts, Clams look best under whiter lighting. They can look washed out at times under blues, but when the lights turn white, that color just POPS!

We currently have one of the best selection of ORA Clams we have ever had before! Incredibly rare colorations and patterns that we rarely get to see! Great sizes on these clams as well, don't miss out, they are going fast! Shop HERE!

Aquarium care for Clams can be very similar to that of corals. They have light and flow requirements, they filter feed, and can even be fed directly! We keep all of our clams in extremely high light and lower flow! The clams we carry are in the Tridacna Genus, and just like corals, they contain zooxanthellae which helps them photosynthesize for energy! They can also benefit from occasional spot feeding with phyto or zooplankton! Placing them in an area of lower flow also helps to keep them healthy. They can be very sensitive to movement, and high flow can blow their flesh around too much, making it hard for them to open up and stay healthy!

We place our Clams directly into our sand bed, or in clam holders! Maximas and Croceas can also be kept in your rock work too! Allowing them to securely attach their foot and anchor down, no need for coral glue!! Since Giant Clams do have feet, similar to anemones, don't be surprised when one day your clam has shifted over a few inches! It's simply finding that sweet spot where it's happy!

Check out our stunning variety of beautiful, sustainable Maricultured Clams from ORA! We included several of our favorites currently in stock down below, but click any photo to shop them all instantly! Have a great Saturday! ~ Corals.com
