Hi Guys,
I roughly followed the RocketEngineer method for building a stand to support my new 90 Gallon tank. The tank is custom made, all glass with starfire front.

I used 2x4's to build the base and 2x6's to build the top box and legs. Everything was attached using Kreg pocket screws and gorilla wood glue. The bottom level surface where my 30gal sump will go is covered with 3/4 birch ply. I plan to cover the top layer with the same 3/4 ply too.

My question is do I need to add a styrofoam layer in between the glass and plywood? And, how should I secure the top piece of plywood to the 2x6 frame? Glue, screws, or both?

Also, this looks super to strong to me, but what do you all think?

Thanks,
Justin

WOW! Way overkill in the build structure.... you can put a 220 gal tank on that badboy...lol as far as the styrofoam ..can't hurt.

Good luck on the build post some pictures!!
