Securing PVC to acrylic tube

I've drilled a hole on the side of a acrylic tube for PVC tubing to exit out. The outtake of my skimmer. I was wondering if there are ways to secure the PVC piping to the acrylic tube strongly. The last attempt, I only silconed the PVC pipe to the acrylic tube but that was very weak. Any suggestion would be helpful.
