Hey everyone,

been a while but back to doing a build of a 120 gal stand & canopy. I am revolving the set up around the finished doors... the stand and canopy will be in a maple wood with a bead bit accent for molding the canopy which will match the doors [ stain and design ] ....the stand is ready for finishing and will start the canopy this weekend. front and sides open for easy access to the sump. will add pictures of the process as I go

Hope everyone had a AWESOME thanksgiving!!

finished the matching canopy today! the set is ready for finishing, it will match the doors, I also added 2-3 in boards along the back of the stand so ya can't see the plumbing when it's all set up [ won't be a reef ready tank: here's a few pictures:

nice work i love when i see a fellow wood worker up here love the inlay and the beading what type of router bit did you use and it looks like you hinged the lid on the canopy just curious did you use piano hinges and if so how will you combat the salt corrosion

Thanks! I used a 1/4 Bead bit and for the panel I dado'd it 3/4 in for inside seperation. I used 2- 3 1/4 hinges [ zink ] mounted them on the outside so the corrosion will be at a minimum and will be a long time before they start.

But do you really trust 1200 pounds on that?

I'm so confident.... I would put a 180 gallon on it... instead of a 120 gal....LOL

but like I always say if using 2x4's makes ya sleep better at night ...Go for it!!

I was looking at 2x4's with 2x6 headers for a 100. I guess that's to much.

NO..if you feel more confortable using that. if you want to give me a call pm me and I'll give you my # and go over your build with ya and explain how I build..

P.S: Thanks for the kind words awibrandy :)
