Here's a question for all of you. You see that on both sides of the tank are two bookshelves. The last photo shows no shelves in the bookshelves yet. I have shelves built of wood, but I'm wondering if I should put in glass shelves so that the light will shine all the way to the bottom. Any thoughts?

i second that.

unless you're really gonna put books on the shelves, i would leave it open and get two matching sculptures or artwork to fill in the space.

just giving some ideas.

Not even a question. Glass without a doubt. Actually, I've never seen a lighted unit with shelving that wasn't glass. Just doesn't make sense.

I used pine. I got it at Lowes and Home Depot. Lowes seemed to have a better quality of wood for the finish lumber like 1x2's, 1x3's, etc. If you click on this link, it will show you the entire fabrication progress. After clicking on the link, click on "120g Wall Unit"
