I just modified water pvc that I was using to feed my fuge, now water goes though this scrubber and goes back in fuge. This one has been running from 2 weeks and I now I have started to see some green algae on the mesh. I will you guys posted with progress of this scrubber and algae growth.

yup you are right but in my case i found this acrylic magazine holder laying out side the store which they were going to discard and i picked it up and drilled some holes in the where magazine sits so that water can trickle through and then drilled holes to drain the water back in fuge. Size of the scrubber is 48" long and 15" wide with three compartments and i have three mesh screens laying in there first one is the one with most algae and second one has less and third one has very minimum. But since there was room i did not want to waste it,

Here are some pics of the scrubber that is sitting on my fuge and one of them is in the fuge driven by air bubbles and diy red led's this is about 1.5 week worth of growth and I see algae has started to grow on the screen.

Supplier details??? Where did you get that string of red leds....are they Christmas lights?

As far as pictures, first load them in a "hosting" site......I use photobucket.com....and this is free. You then simply copy and paste the IMG code into your post.

Sure I will try that and these are red SMD led's bought 20 modules for 10 bucks with power supply and they don't need heat sink and they are waterproof. Doing the job and I see algae growth on the screen. I will post more pics as I see more growth on the screen.

I.agree with you anyone with sump can make one air driven algae scrubber for less than 25 bucks, I look ways that are easy for you and your wallet. All you need is red light air pump, mesh and 12" air wand and you will have algae scrubber, I have 2 different designs going on right now and both with positive results.
