Tank stand plus bookshelf

Im starting to make my own stand plus more!!
Right now I have a 75gl RR tank that has pretty much been kind missed matched together (strange pumps and diy fixes). I have a great spot to move the fish tank around in my living room the only thing i have to do just START!!!!
the slump i have is kinda scary, its very thin glass and very small only 15gl.

In the pic i have a extra 75gl tank that will be brand new slump that i may customize with acrylic panels kinda like dividers but i dont know how to draw it out dont even know how to start that.

The stand will for now be open but i will place cabinet doors and several PC fans for air intake and outtake. the stand will pretty much be over built du to a large lip in the front to act as a little shelf in the front. On the sides there will be shelves built all the way up to the ceiling and a canopy self all the way on top connecting the two. I may enclose the the gap between the tank and top self.
i will be posting pics diagrams and all sorts everyday but shopping lists

As for now the light i have i will be getting rid of (its a compact florescent and MH light) and i will be getting>>>>>

-Standard Solder less 75g Tank Dimmable Kit (DIY)
-
Neptune Apex Aqua Controller
Honestly Im drooooooooolling just thinking about that :Up_to_sum:

DID I MENTION THE WALL IS SET IN SO THE TANK IS SET IN !!!!!

It appears the sides of the tank will be right up against the bookshelves. How will you mount powerheads?

One thought is to put a door on one shelf on either side where the inside of the area has the side boards cut open to access the side of the tank.

yea i the drawing i just kinda think about that. i would have eventually run into that problem too. but i think the shelves wont be that close the space in that wall is 114 inches while the tank is 48i got lots of space there and honestly i dont have that many books unfortunately :(
the shelves wont come out to far too and the tank also i need room for cords and to stick my hand in there just in case. i might also leave enuf room to accommodate a 150 gallon but thats still in the air i think that might be to much i dont want to drown my tenets in case something happens

Lol I have a ton of shims left from the bottom of the stank build so ill use that And put moulding around

I'm sorry I mid read the post. YOU DON'T WANT TO USE THE WOOD SHIMS ON THE TANK IT SELF. it is fine to use thin styrofoam under the tank it self. And ONLY USE wood shims on the stand to make it level. Like you have already done. But most just place the tank on the stand without anything. Sorry again for any confusion.

If you are looking at a 1/2" to level your tank after already leveling the stand you might want to rethink your carpentry skill level. Sorry if that seems rude, its mostly tongue in cheek. I hope you are asking if 1/2 styro will be fine. I don't know if I have seen 1/2" 1" or greater is rather standard. I'm on the fence about its use; I would rather see a stand that is flat. Me, I use very thin self made hardwood shims and glue.
