since I brought the BRS reactor it's been running great. But one down side I notice about these reactor is that the inside cartridge clogs pretty quickly. I would have to clean it out every week or so. It got annoying real quick. But unscrewing the reactor is much easier than the two little fish reactors, I was afraid that I will break the TLF reactors when I try to unscrew it.
Anyways, the mod I did on the BRS reactor is that I cut the bottom "slits" where the water flows into the cartridge. By removing some of the slits it allow more water to flow through the cartridge and less clogging too. I have use plastic mesh and/or foam to keep media from going into the tank. here are the pictures.
as you can see I cut every other slit.
I run pellet carbon so I use the mesh and foam for GFO
for the top, I use the mesh material to prevent media from flowing into the tank.
