hey guys, i recently biult a 10g sump for my 15g tank....i am in the process of turning a fish only into a coral....i came across ViaAqua pumps, specificly the 1800 series, and was wondering if anyone has ever used them and how the quality of them are since they seem to be very in-expensive.

if no-one has any idea about the pump, maybe you could suggest another brand and or a site to get them cheap....the ViaAqua i found for $20....i need a pump that will move 300-400 gph at 3 feet. i would like a good pump in the $20-$30 range...

:D thanks in advance guys :D

What about the Reeflo series of pumps?

Any track record on these yet?

I am interested because they seem to have a very low power consumption and noise level as well.

Shane,
could you add the pump curves for the sequence 20 and sequence 13?

i am trying to figure out which would be a better replacement pump for my settup. currently using a dolphin 4700

another quick question,
comparing pumps with the calculator....
i get different amounts of head pressure with different pumps from 6' to 11', using the different sequence pumps... why? shouldnt the thp remain the same even if the pumps are different?

likewise i get different psi for different pumps...would a lower psi be a better match if the flows are right? or would a bigger pump throttled back be better?

thanks for the insight,
jonathan

Shane,
it looks like the pump curves and model no are not matched up correctly...
i think that the top model has the curve for the bottom unit, 1 and 7 mixed up,
2and 6 mixed up,
3 and 5 mixed up
4 ok

not sure?

jonboy:

We'll add them here pretty soon. We're in the works of significantly updating the site so it may take a bit. :P

I need some suggestions as to how to use the excel spreadsheet in the Pump Selection Guide.

I'm putting in a basement sump and want to bleed off about 400 gph from an external pump return to pass through my chiller ( 0 static head, not sure about friction) and back to the sump. I need another 700 GPH at a 12 ft head pressure to return to the display tank.

How can I use the spreadsheet to help me find the right size pump ? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
