looking at another DIY stand, do not want to use the compound miter box like last time....i really want some clean cuts.

for all you carpenter types out there... I might be purchasing a miter saw but need to know what to look for. Obviously i will be doing 45 cuts for various crown moulding, etc.

I know the Dewalt 12" is really good, but just not sure if i can afford that.

This is DIY, of course, do not want to blow all my money on a new saw.

What do i need to look for?

type of blade?
HP, amps, volts?
how big...8,10,12"

thanks for ANY opinions offered

I've had a Craftsman 10" for about 12 years. It's been a great saw for the price and still makes very accurate cuts. Plus, if it falls off a 28 story building and shatters into a billion pieces, Sears will take it back.

You might want to check your warranty. Sears only has a lifetime gaurantee on hand tools, not power tools. Wreches, sockets, screwdrivers. etc....

Power tools are bound to fail eventually, they are electric.

I am really a porter cable guy. the craftsman are good and less pricey than dewalt. Stick with a 12 inch though. You never know when you may thank yourself later. Most 10"s cant even cut a 4x4.
