I am going to get MH when i find one and I need to know how I can set it up. Ive seen people use wires from the ceiling and also drilling some sort of arm to the wall to hold up the light.

I have a shelf high above my tank and was thinking of clamping a 2x4 to it, then building an arm and nail it to the 2x4, therefore no holes in wall or ceiling.

i dont know which way tput the reflector, should i put it so that i can see the inside of the reflector facing my tank, or should i put it so that i can see the inside of the o reflector from standing on the side of my tank.
know whati mean??

Put them longwise fron to back...so you can see the bulbs.
This way you get the best coverage.
If you have a hood I would mount them on the inside.
