How can you calculate how much a stand can support? If I have 450 lbs of tank and water etc...what will hold it up besides an aquarium stand? Will an old countertop work?
The weight it will hold will vary depending on the vertical supports you use, as well as the horizontal supports. 450lbs is not really that much weight when it is spread out over a wide area. How big is your tank? When you figure out the weight per square foot it is less than the weight of a person. A old counter top should work fine as long as it is supported correctly.
