It has happened twice now. I'm using a gate valve that is teed off my refugium return. The gate valve is reduced down to 1/4 line and returns out of the top of the reactor to the sump. What could be causing this? Now my reactor has been sitting here all day getting filled with co2.

Is gate valve not a good way to control the flow?

Louey;

I teed off my return, which is pushing several hundred GPH. So, there's a lot of flow going to the J.G. ball valve. (same situation; tee, reducer, reducer, J.G.valve) Maybe, if you're teeing off the refugium, you don't have enough flow trying to push water through the J.G. valve. Just a guess.

I also had trouble keeping a steady drip going through the reactor with just this valve. I bought a 50c airline tubing valve, put it on the output of the effluent tube, problem solved.
