DIY overflow help

ok. i have the standpipe siliconed in my box... but i was wondering if the diametr of the J pipe matters...

the J pipe i have is about 1.5 inches and the standpipe is a about 1 inch. will the J pipe being larger than the standpipe matter... like will the overflow box, overflow? thanks just waiting on this to cure.

is this a reef ready tank with a built in overflow? Are you using a plumbing kit that came with the tank?

I am not sure why you would be silicon a pipe into place.

Please elaborate.

diy overflow box, i thought that was implied by the use of a J pipe, sorry. now im redesigning a new one, the old one is working but not enough flow, need more GPH, im in the process of ordering parts to make a new one.... just happy my skimmer is in the sump now , no stupid microbubbles in the tank.
