I built a coldframe using clear twinwall from Charley's greenhouse supply. Stuff seems very durable, mine looks like it will last forever (been up around 7 years).

Some are using fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastic sheets for the waterproofing membrane. This is commonly used in commercials. This is a kind of a very effective waterproofing in green roof.

Have you look into double-walled polycarbonate (Lexan?) panel that commonly used in green house construction?
