Beckett diy skimmer by ian mcdonald?

I posted this on Reef Central and decided to post it here as well. Has anyone made the HSA skimmer that is on Creative Reefs site? It uses 1 beckett 1408 injector and sits atop a 48" x 4" od pvc tube and another 18" x 3" od pvc tube . The injector is fitted inside a screw-on pvc cap and has a 48" x 1" pcv tube attached that goes down through the middle of the two pvc pipes almost to the bottom . Seems like a good design , but was curious if anyone has actually built and used one. Would like to try it , but some feedback from someone would be great before I order any parts...If I do decide to make it , I will use clear pvc pipe , even though it is rather expensive..............Thanks in advance....Steve in Va.

I just wished the guy on the site you pointed out had a better picture of the skimmer. I to have been thinking I could build one of these. Not sure if i understand how it works though. How does the air get sucked into the mixing chamber with the water being forced out? What other info have you got?

Since posting that question , i have decided to build a copy of the areofoamer 830 beckett skimmer , already have the beckett and the materials are being shipped out today .....will cost approx. 200.00 for all the materials . did get one reply on reef central from a guy that built one and he said that it worked well , but that the cleaning aspect was a bear.....he discouraged me from building one of those plans......steve
