Can I use standard PVC glue to attach flexible PVC to hard pipe? Or do I need some sort of barbed fitting? Clamp?

See pictures so that there is no confusion about my question. We all know that sparkys don't know crap about plumbing!

Use the "Rain and Shine" or ACE "Wet or Dry" (ACE 41883). It is typically blue in color. This cement has more solvent in it. It sets fast. I have not had a problem using it even without primer.

I have had bad experiences using the standard PVC cement with flex. I have found it does not always bond well initially. In one installation, it held at first but let go when I moved the pipe a year later (as in pipe came out of fitting 8O ).

I know Aquatic Eco-System sells a special Flex cement (Aquatic Eco-System part number 235, Oatey part number 30878 and 30879) for $4.90 per 1/2 pint. Never used it.
