Provided the glass isn't tempered, yes. You'll have to check with the tank manufacturer to know for sure.
As a rule of thumb, many large tanks have a tempered bottom, but not as many utilize tempered sides. Worse comes to worst, you could always drill the overflow into the side instead of the bottom.
