Here's four pics of my sump with the removable baffles installed. I decided to design slots (9 available) for the purpose of flexibility. The current configuration is water first passes through the middle of the first baffle, flows over the next baffle, below the next, above, then below, and finally through a 2" hole cut into the permenant partition that divides the main sump from the return pump area. Just thought I'd share :)

Lifereef built the tank a long time ago (like a decade ago). I was going to use it as a display tank, but I never got around to it. I decided to use it as my sump and designed and glued the acrylic pieces. Toecutter cut the acrylic to my specifications :)

Hey Len, I like that idea

I did that on my sump, I didn't want to permanetly glue the dividers in so I made channels like you have.

I should mention the problem I ran into before you happen to run into the same snag ( not saying you will)

I installed the sump in the cabinet under my tank and didn't like one of the partitions so I went to slide it up and out of the tank and it hit the bottom of the cab before coming out of the slot

such a knucklehead...

What did you use to glue the little pieces in? And what did you use for spacing and to make it square?

This seems like the way to go for baffles but a little complicated to accomplish. :?

Len, also, I'm trying to find a link to your old tank(s) posted here on RDO. Can you help? :)

Len, I'm not sure if you ever answered this. Help me out. ;)

I used Weldon. It's easy to work with and bonds strong as oak. Spacing was done with (what else :P) the baffles themselves. The whole process really didn't take more then 20 minutes and was very easy to do.

So the strips are tight around the baffles? (You just glued one strip, placed the baffle next to it, and glued the next one tight together?)

I'm thinking of doing this now. But how often have you changed your baffles? :D

I guess I would do 1" strips and do enough of them to be able to increase the gap to 2" if needed. Agree?

Tell him to smooth the edges, otherwise, it can really cut your toes if you ever need to put your bare foot into the sump...

Also, Len, have any ideas how I would accomplish 'flow-under baffles' with glass? :D
