curcuit board help

Can anyone recomend a book or site that will give me curcuitry 101. There are a million DIY plans out there for controllers, wave makers, ect ect, but where does one start if they know nothing about this stuff? I can wire 110/220 in the house in my sleeep, but all I know about a mother board is when my mom is tiered of hearing about my dad's day at work
