My plans for setting up a couple tanks in the new fishroom have been moved forward and I need a quick stand for a 125 tall. I have used cinder blocks and 2x4's for all sorts of stands. The largest tank was a 75 gal. This 125 has the same foot print as a 75. Do you think that the 2x4's will be good or should I use 2x6's? The basic design is 3 cinder blocks stack for each corner, the 8x8x8 size. I glue them together with retaining wall glue. Then the 2x4's outline the bottom of the tank. Normally I don't use a center brace on the 2x4 part.
If all else fails I do have the old stand, but I really don't want to set it up on that just to move it to a cinder block stand in a few months.

2X4 is fine. If the tank is 5 ft or wider, you may want to have some support in the middle (6 cinder block groups instead of just 4 corners).
