I am on a tight budget, so I can afford a fancy skimmer yet.....so with some research, I came up with this to possibly go into my sump.

The body will probably be 2" pvc and the reaction chambers will be as tall as I can make it, according to the cabinet.

I'll probably make most of it out of PVC just because the acrylic is expensive for an experiment.

Any opinions?

Thanks!

I would run them in parallel instead of in series. Use the wooden (IIRC it is lime wood) for the difusser. If you can make the diameter bigger that would help to increase contact time. You will need to change out the air difusser once a month to keep it performing at its best. Make sure the lid has an air hole in it or the back pressure will cause it not to skim. Check the rating of your air pum to make sure it can handle the water depth based on the height of the skimmer, not the water level in the sump.
