can anyone suggest the best links for how-tos on gluing and cutting acrylic sheets?

You could also send a PM to James (Acrylics). I think he was considering writing a book on working with acrylic IIRC...

In addition, go to your local library. There are a few books on it. There is also a forum in RDO called something like "Do It Yourself" that you can ask/search question...

I should of taken more time with my last project, I was not happy at all with the quality of seams I made...
