overflow and U- tubes

i have a over flow, hang on the side, with 2- one inch drains, to the wet dry, i currently run one 1- inch U-tube, to the overflow, can i sucsessfully use 2- one inch U-tube overflows and gain more GPH? i know i will have to up the GPH from the sump, if this works what i am trying to say is i have a large wet dry and i think i am under using it? :roll:
I see. Depends on the design of the overflow, it may or may not do any difference when you add an additional u-tube.
There are three main factors that determines the GPH rating of a HOT overflow. 1, the size , shape and number of the siphon. 2, the size of the bulkhead (drain size) and the relative water level. If the limiting factor of your overflow is just the U-tube, then yes, it will increase the rate. If it is any other factor, then it won't make much of a difference.
With that said, consider the cheap price of the U-tube (and you can DIY it with spring, or just use some PVC pipe and adoptors) it maybe worthwhile to give it a try and see.

In order to get more gph you are going to have to pump more gph from sump to the tank.
If your siphons do less gph then is being returned to the tank, then the tank level will rise and possibily flood.
But if your pump is going full bore and not "sucking air" then an additional u tube will not increase the gph between the tank and sump.

:lol: from what i have read and learned from experience
i have the same type of HOB overflow and i run 2 U tubes the 1 works hard as the other is there for emergency incase 1 is clogged or loses siphon but i did upgrade my return pump higher gph and the 2nd U tube is working hard now too.
keep in mind the size of your return line vs drain
example i run 3/4 in return with 1 inch drain cant run both the same because gravity simply isnt fast enough with a HOB overflow
