DIY Filter Cartridge

I have a 14 gallon BioCube and I removed the BioBalls. I would like to use that space for a second activated carbon cartridge. I have the carbon. Can I use an unused stocking to house the carbon???

Or is there something else aound the house I can use???

stocking is fine, but one of those plastic mesh bag would be better. Some gocery store use them to hold small fruits, and some store use them to hold shell or pebbles, etc.

or get a sock or two the next time you're at a pet store. i find that stockings stretch and let out the carbon. the $.99 bags are quite durable.
