I just sent my nephew an e-mail to see if their plumbing co. has one if these blankets i could borrow. If not I'm trying the heat gun.

Why not just buy flex PVC?
I have in the past used heat guns to manipulate PVC to the size I need. Really does make a nice joint. I was able to make a DIY low pressure beckett with a 38 watt aquabee doing that:
