Silencer/baffle for overflow tube?

Does anyone know of any creative ideas for silencing the sounds created by the bottom end of the tube coming from my overflow?

This is the end of the tube that sits in the sump. Right now, I have a durso standpipe on the top end and the air that is being drawn through makes a lot of noise when it hits the water in the sump.

try sliding on one of those large sponges that comes with a Mag Drive pump I have two around from old pumps if you want to give it a try
