I found the new tank I want to set up and need some advice on a sump design. It's a 47 gallon tall, which is 20" x 18" x 31" tall. It has the same footprint as a 30 gallon cube, but is taller. The working area inside the stand is 18" x 15", which doesn't give me a lot of space. I'm trying to keep all the equipment out of the display tank (ie skimmer, etc), so I want to maximize the space in the sump. I've added a simple sketch of the design I have in mind below. There are three chambers. The largest will house the drain/filter sock from the overflow, heater, and a compact skimmer. Right now I'm leaning towards either a Remora Pro or the Deltec MC500. From here, the water passes through a grate into a small chamber. I had invisioned using this area as a media chamber for carbon, phosban, etc depending on flow. From there, the water would pass through baffles into the third chamber where the return pump will be. The sump would be 11" - 12" tall to have room for the skimmer and leave space for water from the display to drain into.
Does this design seem workable? Are there any obvious issues I'm forgetting/overlooking?
