Seeking your advice. Please let me know what you think. I hope this is my last tank changes. Here's my plan. If you have any great advice, please!!!

Below is my drawing in adobt acrobate...lolz...one dimension. I'm not familiar with any CAD software or stuff, so it's kind of bad.

That's going to be a sweet setup. Great tank footprint will allow so many aquascaping options.

Might be helpful if you use dimensions on your drawing above. Easier to see upfront if you truly have enough room for your design.

Thanks Russ, i'm having trouble drawing but i'll definetly try to keep the dimension in mind so at least i know i'll have enough space to fit everything under the sump.

looks like it's going to be a good build! keep the pictures coming.

43 is nice and high! mines sitting at 41 for stand height, its going to be a little wierd for such a tall tank at first but its nice not to have to bend over so much.

Also, try to scale things and if you have to draw and place things out in 1:1 dimensions. Helps prevent the "crap it doesn't fit" when your finally setting things up after alot of work.

samksy , just curious about the location of the tank. I am in the process of planning my own marineland tank preferably the 200 gal., however I plan on putting the tank in the basement. So the tank would have to come into the house through the basement side door which is down a flight of stairs and through the door which is 36" wide. what's your opinion.

By the way, why a 42" stand. also great start.

you might want to rethink having the float valve control the ro unit. even with a kill switch there have been lots of stories of overflows...

How do you plan on getting a 42"x36"x36" stand through a standard doorway? I learned this the hard way when I built the stand for 92 bow. I ended up having to cut the stand into two pie wedges to get it into the basement.

Are you sure you wont regret making room for a skimmer in the future maybe?
I plan to have a skimmer just not sure which one exactly. I might need a bigger sump now....:fishhit:

You are so right with the dimenion, and scale thing!
I am trying to fit 29 gallon into my stand, seems fine but the adding the skimmer and others, the sump seems a little small to fit all those, now i need a bigger sump maybe 40g breeder but then i won't have enough room to put the water mix bin, i'm trying to find space :(

Thanks Harry!!! I need more height so i can do water mix under the tank and with the flip of a switch, mix salt water can go straight into the sump :). Right now i mix water in one big and then have to pump to the sump and watch the pipe and offcourse the pipe fell out once or twice and you can imagine what happen. This will encourage me to do more often wate change :). No need to clean up mix bin and put away all those pump, heater and etc.

That is a nice Cube size... It seems like you are in the right track planning this set up and having Alan and steve as your adviser is for sure a great help...
thanks, yeah they are great!!!!!

200g is awsome, i want that too but it's kind of too big for me to handle....lolz. Mine is on the first floor. I guess you can't go through the garage? The tank is going to be super heavy, i guess you need at least 6 people to go down the stair, make sure that's doable before you go out and grab the tank. Are you getting the stand too or build your own?

Oouch, hmmmm, not sure if I want to do that now, anyone have similar experience? :scratchch

Well, i was in your situation when i had the frame put togther half way and my wife somehow ask something or told me that it's too big to go through the hall way.....and i measured the doorway and hallway, shoot it didn't go through. I had to take out several screw and guess what, i'm building my stand in my living room where the tank is....i'm a little concern with the paint smell when it comes down to painting.:banghead:. I hope the paint smell won't kill me :banghead:.

what skimmer are planning on?
No idea yet. I'm trying to stay away from breckett skimmer, probably needle wheel.

More in progress picture on the way :)

sam, I plan on building my stand and canopy and then bringing it into the house. I plan on a 30" to 32" tall stand that way it can fit through the door way. By the way ventilate well before staining or painting, the smell can get very strong and dangerous.
As for a skimmer I was looking at the Octopus extreme 250 or 300.

Yeah, you are definetly better off building your own stand, one thing to keep in mind when building ur stand, make sure the overflow whole has enough clearance to fit the bulkhead under your stand.....i'm might be in trouble

Yeah, i was looking into the same line of skimmer as you do. Go check them out on youtube, people post their skimmer running. Let me know what you actually decide on...i'm still debating which one to get.

I plan to evacuate the house for a day when doing the paint job...but that might be a little hard...oh well, that sucks....i'm worrying how i can get it out the door when i move :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:. Two options for me, rip out the window or the french door....lolz!

nice! speed it up man....can i request a full tank shot of the 180G i miss that big boy...:tongue1:
Thanks, i need to slow down, still trying to plan everything out. btw the switch over won't happen until late May. I got 2 months or so to build my stand and plan everything out :lol_large gotta do it right this time....now or never :smokin:

The 180? It's on the mirror reflection.....kakkakka!!!!.....well, it's still running, but no new additions, all fund has been cut off.....kakkakka!! Let me get some ugly picture maybe tonight...lolz

The stand is coming out real nice Sam. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Russ, thinking about sump and the space i have now, i am struggle to find space, i have realize 29 gallon sump is way too small and if i put too big of a sump, i have no place to setup my salt water mix bin which is a absolutly needed. I am tiring of cleaning out bins and put away pumps and heater after water change.....with the salt water mix bin under the thank, i can leave it there, no mess and all i need to do is fill it up with frehswater and do mix.
