Algea Turf Scrubber Filter

Hi does anyone use this type of filter and if you do can you please show pictures of yours or explain in a little detail how you made it. Im going to make one myself but I'm unsure how to construct this with a big sump and an overflow. please help. thanks

I have an algae trough if that helps. The water from the skimmer goes into the 5' trough which is mounted above the water in the main tank and just slightly under the lights.
