How can I mod my Koralia 3?

So i'm trying to think of a way to mod a K3 WITHOUT wasting any extra money, this means NO swapping impellers, only cutting, etc.

I'm thinking, what If I cut off about two of the front two guards in this pic.. Will that mess up the whole thing or will it help the flow?

on the pump if you cut a few of the strips off on the back it will allow more water to be sucked in = more flow

he means on the back of the head where the lines are if you cut some of them off you get more flow

Does he mean on the back as in the spokes on the part next to the red swivel magnet? like in this pic?
