Need Help, 34 Gal Solana with chip in top left front corner. making a brace? hel

hey all,

This would be my upgrade from my 24 pod so im not in a rush and obviously want to insure this isn't a future problem.

so i picked up a 34 gallon solana with approximately a 1 inch wide chip in the front top left [its about 1cm top to bottom], right near the seem. ive included pictures.

i got it with the stand and 40 lbs of rock for 125...i thought it was a really good deal and the person i bought it from insured me that it will be fine as is and was fine when it was filled but i want to make sure it wont be a future problem. The seal isn't broken

heres my q's

do they sell a 20x20x20 90 degree top trim i could buy or custom make?

so i could insure future longevity

or just like a L bracket i could put on the front lef corner that would basically slide down. [would put one on both side to match]

does anyone have any ideas or know the name of the piece i would need or material.....

is anyone interested in doing it for me? ill pay for materials and whatever is fair.



another option:
I looked into buying the solana trim from marine depot but a salesperson and someone who has it told me it isnt a snug fit so i guess thats not going to work for what i want.

maybe i am too cautious, but if the chip goes anywhere near the silicone i would probably not risk it. a new solana tank (just the tank) is like 200 bucks which is a fraction of what a leak will cost you. for that amount of money its just not worth the risk.

I don't think you'll have a problem with a chip in that location. That is about the best possible location you could have a chip.

+1 on you're fine. The chip is above the waterline. It won't cause the tank to leak.

Don't they make a wooden hood for the Solana - If your really worried you could seal the hood around the edge and get better support.

Rich, the 'wood' is a plastic trim with wood veneer.

You should sell that tank to me for $125. That's the safest way to deal with it!

Seriously, I'd just get the trim kit and silicone it on. Easy and quick.

I have a Solana. IMO you are not going to have a problem with that chip. It is at least 1/2" above the water line & will not effect the structure of the tank.
I will take it off your hands if you are worried
