Hey all im interested in making a exterior refugium for my solana in the stand. After measuring it, It seems like i could fit anything smaller than
17 [w] X 17 [L] [with atleast 20inches height avail]

the solana tank is set up and less than 3 inches from the wall so a hang on refug or drilling isn't an option for me. the stand has two holes drilled on the back wall for the plumbing in it already. [its a jbj stand]

i sketched up a little idea on the computer, im not too knowledgeable in plumping, return pipes or anything like that so im looking for help.

can anyone give me advise or be interested in doing this for me?

i have the funds and don't mind paying someone too do this. please let me know if anyone is interested or a better way of doing this.

Thanks, Jonny

Won't work like that Jonny. Either the siphon will be too fast for the pump and break causing all the refugium water to be pumped back in the tank (flood), or the pump will be too fast running dry pumping all refugium water in your tank (flood).

I don't think anyone will mess around drilling the thin glass on the solana. You could do a hang on refugium or get a hang on over-flow box to run the water to your refugium.

I agree, the simplest answer is a hang on refugium. If you want to go with something under the stand you will need to regulate the water flow out of the tank more precisely then a simple siphon with a ball valve. You can buy hang on back overflow boxes.

now that i read my original post i realize why it wouldn't work. i didn't cover both angles of "if" obviously if one went wrong ie: if it kept pumping to main tank without some leaving the main tank lol...it would be badd lol.

yea dont think i could do a hang on overflow because of the back chamber.

think my only option is a hang on refug but i would have to move the tank forward. not sure how i would do that considering its on a rug.

The hang on overflow looks like this but I don't even think you'll be able to fit it in the back chamber of the solana. I think the hang on refugium is your only option.

yea i understood the concept just didn't know how it would work with the rear chamber. i was looking to upgrade the amount of water by adding a fuge.

ill try to figure out the hang on back, id have to mod that as well considering the levels in the back chamber of the solana. i guess i would have to extend the pipes.
