Anyone ever done it? Or seen it done? I'm cautious as to if it will weaken the support.

I've seen comments where the trim gives little to know support, others where as long as you don't remove the larger tanks that have the brace, and others where 20g may be too big.

But all these are relating to tanks not drilled.

I'm planning on regular AGA, de-rimming it, and drilling two holes, return and overflow.

If it can be done, it iwll be pretty bad ass, and if it's done, then it's bad ass.

According to Aqueon (AGA manufacture) the 20G is not tempered so you're OK to drill the tank. Since the trim has no center brace I'd think you'll be OK removing it but may want to give them a call/email to verify...20G is a good volume of water to have to clean up.

I wouldn't remove the trim, it is designed to help the tanks stability.
