so im thinking of doing my own led build.it is going to be a triangular design because i have a 92 corner.im thinking in the rear of the tank i will go 1w LED since the rocks are so high up.then i was going to use 2w LED in the middle where the rocks are 15 inches to top of water.then a row of 3w LED to go all the way to the sand.does this sound like it can work.if so how many 1w 2w and 3 w leds will i need.and a list of the other materials i will need to order.i was thinking.10 1w 20 2 w and 20 3 w.half blue and half white

well heatinks are going to be the biggest obstacle since you want it to be triangle. fans i would go with 2 maybe 3 if you need it. how deep is the tank? and how high are you going to keep the light. like i always say the number of leds are for covverage not intensity... drivers- well that depends on what you want to do wit hthe light. meaning how much control you want over them.

I know James at Acan has a single 18" fixture over his 92 corners and it does a good job so if you went with 3 small heat sinks you could go 12 LED per square and move them around until you found a layout you liked. On the optics use 60 or 40 to get the depth and 80 or 120 (no optics) for the back. The great part with DIY is you can go 40 on the middle row and 60 on the outside rows to get a better mix.
