uv leds?

Does anyone know where I can purchase some 3w uv (violet) led`s? I only can find blue/royal blue. I know they make them because some pendants come with them (Semiled). Thanks.

The high spectrum of the UV will appear as violet/purple.

There is UVA which 320-400nm which appears purple. This causes wrinkly skin, a sign of "aging"

Then there is UVB which is 290-320nm, which is non-visable. Responsible for giving you a sun tan, as well as skin cancer.

The UV Sterilizers uses around 260nm

Paul is referring to semiled's which are 375nm so they would appear purple. UV Led's make the coral colors pop, in a different way then the royal blue LED's which look pretty amazing IMO.

I don't know where to purchase them but I have an Ecoexotic Stunner Strip that I use for a moonlight and that "UV" purple spectrum makes the corals look awesome and its a good change from the normal RB's that I have when my lights are on.

+1 although u can see all the white dust particles in the water. Makes it cloudy looking sometimes. I love the coloring though. Reminds me of the NY gold and silver rave parties of the 80s.

Thats inferred light which are used in remote controls for tv's and stuff like that.

fyi infrared is on the other end of the color spectrum. But you are right that both are invisible to us. I believe the peacock mantis shrimp can see both though.

All leds that are used in aquarium have UV in them thats what gives you that color pop. Thay do make none UV leds .
