DIY 48 cree led

Well I took the plunge and upgraded my lighting from two K2 vipers to a led light. Figured I would help explain better what you need.

Supplies to create a 48 cree led similar to the one I made.

1x heatsink 24″ x 8.46″
2x cooling fan with powersupply
4x Meanwell ELN 48-60D Drivers
24 Cree cool white leds
24 cree royal blue
48 optics
1 x thermal adhesive and endcaps
4x levitown plugs
20ft of 18 gauge wire
4x 1.5 dVh- 9dVh dimmers
metal screws about 25
aluminum flats about 2x 3ft pieces
1x good solder I bought one at lowes for $25 its the big one with a trigger works create the pen one doesnt work to good.
1x wire strippers
1x drill

I included pretty much everything except the way I mounted the light on the tank.

Cool, me like that built. One thing I may add- you don't need 4 9V PS for dimming, the dimming current is very low so I'm pretty sure one wallwart can dimm all the meanwells. I use one to dim two meanwells with no problems.

Looks good... only 1 thing, you may want to raise the lights off the frame of the tank, unless you want to continue wipping the fixture down everyday. LOL!! Great job!! congrats!

Now that I think of it I porbably could have gone with only using one dimmer but I had already cut the cords couldnt return them.

Cost about $700 total. -$60 if you dont include 3 dimmers

The light was sprayed with a led seal and is about 4in above the surface.

what size tank are you using it on? have you put par meter to check levels n intensity ?
how deep is our tank ?

Tank is a red sea max 130D 18in high. Dont know how to test the par.

Tank is 36 gallons.

The dimmers are the most important part. Emmanuel told me he had to throttle back the lights cause they were too bright affecting the corals!
