polyurethane in tank room?

3 weeks ago i had to due an emergency swap of a 210gallon tank with another 210g. I built a stand and didnt have time to finish it, do you guys think i can stain it and poly it with the tank there. i have some corals that survived the emergency move and sump is there to. should i cover the tank and sump and just ventilate room?

High ventilation would be best. We had a member lose a bunch of SPS as a result of his sister having a party with her friends where they used an entire can of hairspray in the same room as the tank. Both the corals and the girls looked terrible.
