DIY: Floating rock/coral

I plan on doing floating coral or to be more specific different caps off the glass. think of the floating rock concepts utilizing magnets. i know someone must have done this before and would love to know what you used or where to buy the materials.

If i'm not making sense please tell me and i'll look for the closest picture concept.
