can u guys tell me if an led rated at 7000 to 9000k at 3.8 to 4.2 v good for led lights cool wht, also 5000 to 6000 k at 3.8 to 4.2 which one would be4 better
people usually use 10,000K white LEDs so the 7,000-9,000K whites would be the best and whitest ones. Just remember, the lower the Kelvin, the yellower the light. The higher the Kelvin, the bluer the light. Right in between are shades of white.
This all depends on how you're mixing them. Most people use a combination of blue and white LEDs. If you go with the higher Kelvin or so called Cool Whites, you're going to be overlapping the blue part of the spectrum. This will result in a tank where the warm colors appear to be very washed out. Go with the lower Kelvin LEDs and compensate by using more blue. If you're getting Crees, go for Neutral White:Royal Blue = 1:2. Trust me. If you use 7-9KK whites with royal blues, you'll have a very icy looking tank. Just make sure to put both color channels on dimmers so that you can dial in what ever color you want. I'd also recommend using cool blue to fill in the missing part of the spectrum. That being cyan. Just be careful with cool blue. It can become overpowering quickly and you'll have a tank of listerine. NW:RB:CB = 3:6:1 is a conservative estimate on that.
