hello m/r i have my tank ready filled with saltwater, marco dry rock live sand, fuge, i want to start cycling my tank and i have thrown in piece of shrimp to start nitrate cycle and go from there its there almost one week and when will know that cycle has finished and i can add fishes and do i need to leave lights on while cycling. please any advice.

You need to wait until all your parameters are in check. Do you have test kits? I would leave the lights off during the cycle. It will reduce algae growing. The cycle will take 2 to 6 weeks or so. I would not put any fish in the tank until the cycle is complete. Then take it slow, 1 fish per month is about right.

You could also consider putting a piece of cured live rock in the tank to help kick start the cycle of the other rock. Just my 2 cents.

Hes rite you have to have pantience for this hubby specially when it comes to cycling your tank. With out having pantience all your gonna end up doing is spending money like crazy. So just give it time like for my 55G this is my 3 week cycling and im still wanting for the cycle to stop.
