mbg75's advice is right on the money. Place it after all the prefilters but before the membrane. Not the pressure when the prefilters are new/clean. Then check it periodically and when you see that the pressure is less than it used to be that's an indication one or more of the prefilters is clogging.

Use a gauge where the anticipated pressure is near the middle of the gauge's pressure range. So if the pressure is about 50 psi, use a 0 to 100 psi gauge. If you have a booster pump, or plan on using one in the future, use a liquid filled gauge.
