Sol to vega kit vs. kessil vs. DIY

Currently have a sol blue on my 18x20x18 mixed reef. Was considering ordering the hydra 26 upgrade kit for $170 to enhance colors and growth. I've also always like the kessils and I've built DIY fixtures before.
Originally I was just going to add a 12"x1" heat sink with 4 UV and a red and green led.

Looking for some opinions from users with experience with these fixtures.
It may be worth noting at the moment I don't have a reef keeper or apex so for a DIY I'd need to consider a controller.

I can only tell you about the kessil. Its a great light the shimmer is very nice. Don't believe the whole (there for shallow tanks) that's not true. The 350-360 come narrow and wide the narrow is for deep tank. I have 24 inch deep clam on the sand bed its doing fine. The only thing you may miss is the control but kessil has made a control and will be available at the end of the summer.

You have the sol what not just do the upgrade . I'm looking into doing the same thing and your saving about 150 bucks you can spend on coral.

Well yes and no. I figure if I went another route I'd sell the sol so in terms of price it's all about the same.
