I have a wp25 wich is to strong for my 40 gallon breeder,I know they sell variable power supply 12v to 24v for these pumps to slow them down.I found a post on another site where some one was using a Power supply from his old Linksys router ,that is 12v and I believe 1 amp.i found my old links router and it does work ,the one they sell has a 12 volt setting on it ,should I worry about it buring out the controller or worse causing a fire.

I might keep it in case I decide to upgrade to a larger tank eventually.I will order the wp10 I like things to work the way they were meant to work .why did u use a dimmer with the 12v power supply was the flow still to strong with just the 12v for your tank ,with just the 12v on my 40b it seems under powered .i read on another site of someone using just the dimmer switch with stock power supply ,and when he set it very Low it got very hot and started to melt a chip in the dimmer switch.

Today was the first day I tried it because I was at home just in case something were to go wrong that's why I was asking for advice on it ,i decided to reconnected it with the stock power supply. It works fine as long as I leave it on w1 s3 with the blue dial set to half way ,any other stetting is to strong ,forget about else mode the tank will look like a snow globe.I have an Aqueon 500 on the other side of the tank not that it needs it,do u think this would be enough for my tank if I decide to sell the w25 just until I get the wp10,I only have to clowns and one yellow clown goby in there at this time no corals and about 30 pounds of live rock.

I'm not an electrician so I can't explain what burned the controller, it might be the dimmer. With 12V power supply the flow was still too strong. After I added a dimmer in line I had to set the dimmer to the lowest possible setting. This thing is very powerful. It looses a little bit of power when the head becomes dirty but once you clean it it moves water like a jet engine. For my 29g tank, WP10 is perfect.

I hooked up a dimmer as many people do - Fishstreet also sells the dimmer for it.
However, the Jebao WP's often slow down a month or so after use to the point where the Wp-25 may work for you.
Just a thought.
