Do you leave your fuge light on 24/7? I do but read somewhere it should be on opposite light cycles of your tank

Leaving lights on 24/7 helps prevent some strains from going sexual, opposite light cycle helps minimize the pH swing between day and night.

Right now I have the fuge light on 24/7 but I heard that this could screw with ph and basically kill the fuge as it has no rest time. But skimmer and all run 24/7

From what I have been told, macro algae needs a minimum of 8 hour of darkness so you can light the fuge from 12 to 16 hours.

Fuge, skimmer/equipment, return...

Skimmer first, so it has a chance at the dirties water coming from tank. Plus you don't want to skim out pods and trace elements picked up in fuge. Also a good idea to have pumps running uv or reactors pick up in skimmer area, and discharge in return pump area so it bypasses the fuge area, slowing down the flow in fuge so nutrients get absorbed more effectively, and pods breed better too.
So ..... skimmer, fuge, return. With equipment going from skimmer directly to return.

IMO, Ideal set up is
-4-6 times the tank volume going through the sump.
-The skimmer able to process close to the same amount as return pump.
-10x flow in the volume of fuge area alone. So if fuge area is 10 gallons, 100 gph through fuge. Think cheato is the only exception to this, it likes more flow
